Aurelian Relief Wool-Blend Rug

I mainly use a vacuum for regular cleaning, and the low pile is easier to maintain than a shaggy rug. Small stains need to be blotted and handled quickly. It cannot be machine washed, and it’s not suitable for full water washing, so that’s something worth knowing before ordering. Overall, daily care is not difficult, but it should not be treated like a washable rug.

The colors are not overly bright. The terracotta, ivory, and a bit of blue-gray blend together in a very soft way. Most of my furniture is neutral-toned, and the rug doesn’t look out of place at all. The texture has some raised and recessed details, which are more noticeable when there is natural light during the day.

I chose the 9' x 12' size, and it also arrived in one package, weighing around 95 lbs. The rug is very large, so having four people lay it out would make the process much easier. We managed with two people, but it took quite a bit of time to adjust the position back and forth. Once it was in place, the living room did feel much more complete.

I bought the 5' x 8' size. It arrived in one package, and it felt quite substantial, around 50 lbs. Moving and laying it out alone would be a bit difficult, so I’d recommend having two people do it together. It was much easier to line up the rug properly. Once placed, the color looked softer than I expected and worked naturally with my light sofa and wooden coffee table.

Before ordering, I asked customer service whether the rug could be washed. They explained that it cannot be machine washed or fully water washed, and that it should be spot cleaned according to the care instructions or professionally cleaned when needed. That reminder was helpful because otherwise I might have treated it like a regular rug.

I was worried that a light-colored rug would get dirty too easily, but the pattern has enough variation that everyday dust and light footprints don’t show too obviously. Regular vacuuming keeps it looking pretty good. Liquid spills still need to be handled immediately, though.
