WARRANTY POLICY
At Houlte, quality extends beyond the moment of delivery. Our products are designed with careful attention to materials, craftsmanship, function, and enduring use.
Every eligible Houlte product is protected by our 2-Year Limited Warranty against covered defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use.
This warranty reflects our commitment to standing behind the products we make and sell, while recognizing the natural characteristics of the materials and craftsmanship that make each piece unique.
1. Warranty Coverage
Houlte warrants eligible products against defects in materials and workmanship for two (2) years from the date of delivery to the original purchaser, subject to the terms, limitations, and exclusions set forth in this policy.
A covered defect is a defect attributable to materials or workmanship that materially affects the product's intended function, structural integrity, or ordinary use.
Depending on the product, covered defects may include qualifying failures involving:
- Structural frames and supports;
- Hardware, hinges, drawer mechanisms, and other functional components;
- Original electrical components supplied as part of a lighting fixture;
- Integrated LED components, drivers, transformers, sockets, or wiring components where applicable; and
- Materials or finishes where the condition is attributable to a manufacturing defect rather than natural variation, normal aging, wear, environmental exposure, or customer use.
Coverage is determined by the cause and nature of the issue, not solely by the component involved.
2. Who Is Covered
This Limited Warranty applies to the original purchaser of an eligible Houlte product purchased directly from Houlte or through a sales channel expressly authorized by Houlte.
Proof of purchase is required. A Houlte order number, purchase confirmation, or other information that reasonably verifies the original purchase may be accepted.
This warranty is intended for products used under normal personal, family, or household conditions.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise by Houlte in writing, products used for resale, rental, hospitality, staging, office, restaurant, retail, or other commercial or institutional purposes are not covered by this consumer Limited Warranty.
3. Furniture
For eligible Houlte furniture, this Limited Warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship affecting the structural integrity or normal function of the product.
This may include covered manufacturing defects involving frames, supports, legs, hinges, drawer mechanisms, doors, hardware, and other functional components.
Furniture naturally responds to use and its environment. Minor settling, movement, expansion, contraction, alignment variation, and other changes resulting from normal use, temperature, humidity, or the inherent characteristics of the material are not considered manufacturing defects unless they materially impair the product and are attributable to a covered defect.
4. Lighting
For eligible Houlte lighting, this Limited Warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship affecting the fixture and its original covered electrical components under normal residential use.
Where applicable, this may include covered manufacturing defects involving integrated LED components, drivers, transformers, sockets, wiring components, or other original functional components supplied as part of the fixture.
Bulbs & Consumable Components
Replaceable light bulbs and other components designed or reasonably expected to require periodic replacement through normal use are considered consumable items and are not covered by this 2-Year Limited Warranty unless expressly stated otherwise for the applicable product.
Installation & Electrical Conditions
Damage or failure resulting from improper installation, incorrect wiring, incompatible voltage, incompatible dimmers or controls, power surges, abnormal electrical conditions, unauthorized modification, or installation in an unsuitable environment is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Where professional installation is required, the product should be installed by an appropriately qualified professional in accordance with applicable requirements and the instructions provided with the product.
5. The Character of Natural Materials
Natural materials are an essential part of many Houlte designs. Their individual character is part of the product, not an imperfection to be eliminated.
Wood, marble, alabaster, stone, glass, metal, leather, and other natural or handcrafted materials may display variations in:
- Grain and veining;
- Color and tone;
- Texture and pattern;
- Mineral markings and natural inclusions;
- Knots and pores;
- Transparency and translucency;
- Surface character; and
- Hand-applied finishes.
No two pieces of natural stone, alabaster, or wood are expected to be identical.
Alabaster and natural stone may vary in veining, clouding, mineral pattern, coloration, and translucency. Wood may naturally expand, contract, or experience minor movement as temperature and humidity change. Certain metal finishes may develop subtle changes in tone or patina through normal aging and exposure.
These natural characteristics, as well as reasonable differences between individual pieces, production batches, samples, photography, digital renderings, and replacement components, are not considered defects by themselves.
This does not exclude a genuine manufacturing defect or a material discrepancy that goes beyond the reasonable characteristics of the material or the product ordered.
6. What Is Not Covered
This Limited Warranty does not cover conditions resulting from causes other than a defect in materials or workmanship.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, exclusions include:
- Normal wear and tear;
- Normal aging, patina, or cosmetic change;
- Accidental damage, impact, misuse, abuse, or neglect;
- Improper assembly, installation, moving, handling, transportation, or storage after delivery;
- Failure to follow applicable care, assembly, installation, or safety instructions;
- Drilling, cutting, painting, refinishing, rewiring, reupholstering, or other unauthorized modifications;
- Use outside the product's intended purpose or environment;
- Excessive loads or abnormal use;
- Excessive moisture, water, heat, sunlight, humidity, dryness, or extreme temperatures;
- Mold, mildew, corrosion, rust, staining, fading, or discoloration resulting from environmental conditions or improper care;
- Damage caused by pets, pests, insects, chemicals, abrasives, or unsuitable cleaning methods;
- Electrical supply issues, power surges, incompatible controls, or improper electrical installation;
- Damage caused by third-party moving, assembly, installation, repair, or other services not arranged or authorized by Houlte;
- Consumable or periodically replaceable components unless expressly covered; and
- Natural material and finish characteristics described in this policy.
Personal preferences concerning size, color, style, finish, comfort, appearance, or suitability for a particular space are not warranty defects.
Eligible change-of-mind returns are governed separately by our Return & Refund Policy.
7. Repairs & Alterations
If you believe your product has a covered defect, contact Houlte before arranging repairs, alterations, refinishing, rewiring, component replacement, or other corrective work.
We may need a reasonable opportunity to evaluate the product before work is performed.
Houlte does not cover unauthorized third-party repair, labor, installation, removal, replacement-part, or modification expenses unless the expense was approved by Houlte in advance or applicable law requires otherwise.
An unauthorized repair or alteration does not automatically void the entire warranty. However, warranty coverage may be denied to the extent that the reported damage or failure was caused or materially worsened by that repair, alteration, incompatible component, or third-party work.
8. Making a Warranty Claim
If you believe your Houlte product has a covered defect, contact Houlte Customer Care within the applicable warranty period.
To help us review your claim efficiently, please provide:
- Your order number or other acceptable proof of purchase;
- Product name or SKU, if available;
- A description of the issue;
- Clear photographs of the complete product;
- Close-up photographs of the affected area; and
- A video demonstrating the issue where necessary to show a functional problem.
Depending on the nature of the claim, we may request additional photographs, measurements, videos, installation information, troubleshooting steps, or other reasonable documentation needed to determine the cause of the issue.
For installed lighting, this may include information concerning installation, electrical conditions, controls, or relevant components.
Please retain the product and relevant components while your claim is being reviewed unless Houlte instructs you otherwise or retaining them would create a safety risk.
9. How We Evaluate a Claim
Every warranty claim is reviewed according to the circumstances of the individual product.
Houlte considers the nature of the reported issue, the condition and age of the product, available photographs or videos, installation and usage information where relevant, the characteristics of the materials involved, and the terms of this Limited Warranty.
Submitting a claim does not by itself establish that the condition is a covered defect.
Where additional information is reasonably necessary, Houlte may request further documentation, troubleshooting, inspection, or other reasonable steps before determining coverage.
If the available evidence indicates that the condition resulted from an excluded cause rather than a defect in materials or workmanship, the claim may not qualify for warranty coverage.
10. How We Resolve a Covered Claim
If Houlte confirms a defect covered by this Limited Warranty, we will determine an appropriate resolution based on the nature and extent of the defect.
Depending on the circumstances, the resolution may include:
- Product or technical guidance;
- Replacement hardware or components;
- Replacement parts;
- Repair;
- Reimbursement for a repair specifically authorized by Houlte in advance;
- Replacement of the affected product;
- A reasonably comparable replacement where the original product is no longer available; or
- Another remedy required or permitted by applicable law.
Where more than one remedy would reasonably correct the covered defect, Houlte may select the appropriate remedy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
A defect affecting an individual component does not automatically require replacement or refund of the entire product where the covered issue can reasonably be corrected through repair or component replacement.
If an original product, finish, configuration, or component is no longer available, Houlte may provide a reasonably comparable alternative.
Refunds
A cash refund is not automatically available for every warranty claim.
Where repair, replacement parts, component replacement, or product replacement provides an appropriate remedy, Houlte may use that remedy to resolve the covered defect to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Where a covered defect cannot reasonably be resolved through an available warranty remedy, Houlte will provide any additional remedy required by applicable law and may, where appropriate, offer a refund or other resolution.
11. Replacement Parts & Products
Replacement parts and products are subject to availability.
Where an original component, finish, or product has been discontinued, revised, or is otherwise unavailable, Houlte may provide an equivalent or reasonably comparable replacement.
Because natural materials and finishes vary, a replacement component or product may not be visually identical to the original. Reasonable differences in grain, veining, color, tone, texture, finish, or other natural characteristics do not automatically constitute a defect.
Where return of the original product or component is required, Houlte will provide the applicable instructions.
Warranty service, repair, or replacement does not restart the original 2-year warranty period unless required by applicable law. Any replacement product or component remains covered for the balance of the original warranty period.
12. Shipping, Labor & Related Costs
For a confirmed covered defect, Houlte will cover reasonable shipping costs associated with warranty replacement parts or replacement products where provided under this Limited Warranty.
Unless expressly authorized by Houlte or required by applicable law, this Limited Warranty does not cover:
- Unauthorized repair expenses;
- Independent contractor fees;
- Removal or reinstallation;
- Electrician, plumber, carpenter, handyman, or other professional labor;
- Structural modifications;
- Repair of walls, ceilings, floors, cabinetry, or other surrounding property;
- Painting or refinishing of surrounding areas;
- Equipment rental;
- Storage;
- Loss of use; or
- Other incidental or consequential expenses associated with accessing, removing, repairing, replacing, or reinstalling the product.
Where Houlte authorizes reimbursement for a local repair, the approved scope and reimbursement amount should be confirmed before the work is performed.
13. Returns, Shipping Damage & Warranty Coverage
Our 2-Year Limited Warranty, Return & Refund Policy, and Shipping & Delivery Guide address different circumstances.
Returns
Eligible returns, exchanges, cancellations, and refunds within Houlte's applicable 100-day return period are governed by the Return & Refund Policy.
A warranty claim does not restart or extend the 100-day return period.
After the applicable return period has ended, qualifying defects in materials or workmanship may continue to receive warranty coverage for the remainder of the 2-year warranty period.
Shipping Damage
Damage occurring during transportation is handled under Houlte's Return & Refund Policy and Shipping & Delivery Guide rather than as an ordinary manufacturing-defect warranty claim.
Please inspect your order promptly upon delivery and report visible shipping damage within the timeframe specified in the Return & Refund Policy.
A shipping-damage reporting requirement does not shorten the 2-year warranty period applicable to a separate manufacturing defect.
14. Limitations
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HOULTE WILL NOT BE LIABLE UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM A COVERED PRODUCT DEFECT.
This may include loss of use, lost income, lost business opportunities, project delays, or costs associated with separately arranged contractors or services, to the extent such losses may lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in this Limited Warranty excludes or limits liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable rights relating to personal injury, defective products, fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or other non-waivable rights.
Where applicable law does not permit a particular exclusion or limitation, that provision applies only to the maximum extent permitted.
15. Your Legal Rights
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties applicable to a product covered by this 2-Year Limited Warranty, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the duration of this written Limited Warranty.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
Some states also do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so certain limitations in this policy may not apply to you.
Nothing in this Limited Warranty excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy that applicable law does not permit Houlte to exclude, restrict, or modify.
16. Warranty Terms
This Limited Warranty constitutes Houlte's written warranty for the products it covers.
No customer-service representative, sales representative, installer, carrier, contractor, or other third party is authorized to alter or extend this Limited Warranty on behalf of Houlte unless Houlte expressly confirms the change through an authorized written channel.
Product-specific written warranty terms may supplement this policy. Where Houlte expressly provides different warranty coverage for a particular product before purchase, the more specific product warranty will control for that product.
Houlte may update this policy prospectively. A later revision will not reduce the warranty coverage applicable to an earlier purchase except where permitted by applicable law.
